The Logistics Manager oversees all material handling and movements within the site including inbound and outbound material flow. Responsible to ensure timely flow of material within each function of the warehouse, receiving, kitting, cycle counting, put away, shipping, and outside processing. Accountable for inventory accuracy, kitting completion, cycle count completion and the turn-around time for shipping, receiving and put away, as well as the reporting of these KPIs. Drives changes in the department that assist in the improvement of performance. Assist in other projects as assigned.
Job description:
- Perform daily management of logistics functions, including performance tracking in support of internal and external customer requirements.
- Develop and document work procedures, prepare work schedules, and ensure staffing levels are adequate to support manufacturing and planning requests.
- Ensure compliance with Safran Standards of cycle count accuracy and completeness.
- Plan layout of stockroom considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.
- Align stockroom processes in partnership with continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing.
- Develop and implement plans to manage / reduce freight in and freight out costs year over year.
- Establish and/or oversee training as required.
- Monitor key performance indicators and takes appropriate action when necessary to meet objectives.
- Develop and implement business processes within the Logistics departments which will improve overall supply chain performance while satisfying current demands and minimizing total supply chain costs.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, Local, and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.
- Must be organized and possess time management skills as well as the reactivity to adapt to priority changes.
- Attend and actively participates in departmental meetings in a positive manner.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts for the department.
- Communicate department's activities and strategies in conjunction with the direction of site leadership.
- Serve as a member of the site leadership team.
- Available to assist in other areas of the company, as directed by site leadership.
Candidate skills & requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (+4 years without degree).
Experience:
- 8 or more years of experience in warehouse/shipping/receiving operations.
- 2-5 years of experience in a Managerial role.
- Experience analyzing inventory and making adjustments to reduce cash while maintaining high levels of customer service.
Computer Skill:
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Other Skills:
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment and lead projects required.
- Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization, both oral and written as well as strong presentation skills required.
Additional Preferred Skills: (not required)
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related field, preferred.
- APICS certification preferred.
- Experience leading projects demonstrating financial improvements (cash and/or cost savings).
- Experience with M3 or similar ERP systems.
- Lean Six Sigma experience.
- Experience with Manufacturing Processes.
